April 26, 2004Members of THE LIVING END, SPIDERBAIT, GRINSPOON and YOU AM I make up a band called THE JACK who cover the songs of AC/DC for the upcoming movie "Thunderstruck", according to Undercover News.
THE JACK are Phil Jameson (GRINSPOON),Janet English (SPIDERBAIT),Davie Lane (YOU AM I),Kemstar (1200 TECHNIQUES),Travis Demsey (ex-LIVING END) and Bodhan Dower (SENDER).
The soundtrack will also feature new music from THE CASANOVAS and KILLING HEIDI plus a very old Bon Scott song with FRATERNITY, the band he was in before AC/DC.
"Thunderstruck" is a new Australian feature comedy which tells the story of five fans who make a pact during AC/DC's Australian tour in 1991 that if one of them dies before they reach 40 the others will bury him beside the grave of AC/DC's late singer, Bon Scott.
Named after an AC/DC song, the AUD $5.6-million film (approximately US $4.3 million) is from a script by Australian Academy of Dramatic Arts graduate Shaun Angus Hall, 28. It is the first feature directed by ad maker Darren Ashton and the independent feature debut for producer Jodi Matterson, 27.
"Thunderstruck", which will receive an Australian theatrical release on May 20, is the first Australian movie picked up by Mel Gibson's Icon company at the script stage and the first in which Sony Australia has invested.
A test screening at Parramatta was packed and hundreds of volunteer extras had to be turned away from the shooting of the finale, which involves 2,000 AC/DC fanatics at a gig played in Fremantle Cemetery where Scott is buried.
